This last Tuesday was the release date for the fifth installment of the From Blood and Ash series where we were able to read from Casteel's perspective of the first book with a few scenes interspersed that clued us into the current events of the timeline after The War of Two Queens(book 4).
Many authors, when doing a flipped perspective, just make the book a role reversal with the same story. Jennifer L Armentrout doesn't do this and instead adds plenty of new material to make the book as exciting to read as any other new novel. She integrates the scenes we loved before with new ones which makes this book an absolute must-read.
This book was an amazing 5 star read and made readers fall even more in love with our love interest, Casteel, as we learned about his inner thoughts and struggles while witnessing him fall in love with Poppy all over again. In fact, we learn a great deal more about what's going on in the present timeline as well, so we get to check in on our favorite characters after the whirlwind ending of the fourth book, The War of Two Queens. The present chapters in A Soul of Ash and Blood intrigue and leave the readers with questions that increase the plot and provide suspense; so, with that in mind and, of course, the favorite scenes we get to revisit, I highly encourage reading this book as we wait and anticipate our questions and the cliffhanger solved in the next/last two books of the series.
